Berkeley College Republicans Stand Up to Code Pink

What do you call a group of middle aged, frumpy, America-hating, United States military despising women on the left coast? Why, you call them Code Pink, of course.

Code Pink, as you will recall, is the group who, with the graces of and the full support of, and cooperative participation of the Berkeley City Counsel stage protests in front of the United States Marine Corps recruiting station IN Berkeley, California. They have an ongoing permit to stage their protests, city parking made available in front of the Marine station for their activities, and generally go around making general fools of themselves by protesting in their pink outfits and running off potential recruits for the Corps.

They claim this is an exercise of their First Amendment Rights.

This is what the First Amendment has to say:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Ok, I can take their argument that they're within the bounds of the First Amendment. But they'd better be ready to put up or shut up, because once again, they're being challenged on the same grounds upon which they base their own argument; the right to freedom of speech. Melanie Morgan and Move America Forward have already had their counter-protests in Berkeley. Now the Berkeley College Republicans are setting up as a counter to Code Pink by applying for permits giving them the same access to protest in favor of the Corps.

Working with Councilmember Kriss Worthington, the group is asking for sound waiver permits and a parking spot reservation outside the center on Wednesdays from 12 to 4 p.m., the same time Code Pink protests outside the center, said Kimberly Wagner, activism chair for the Berkeley College Republicans.

"(Code Pink's) claim is that they're protecting free speech," she said. "I kind of don't feel they are, they are inhibiting the recruitment center in general. It's important that they are not unopposed, that there are people willing to fight them. Even though it's Berkeley, the liberal center of America, there will be people (opposed)."

Worthington is working to have the item appear on an agenda in May.

Outstanding. This Army vet thinks that these kids are doing a great thing in making a patriotic stand against a group that does not realize (or maybe they do realize and don't care) the propaganda feed that they are handing to our enemies every time they stroll their fat asses out into the streets in their pink teeshirts chanting and demonstrating against our military.

Situational Irony: Berkeley Protestors Call FOR Marines

Berkeley, California, has once again found itself in the headlines. This time, however, they're calling IN the Marines.

In what can only be seen as an ironic twist of fate, Code Pink, and none other than radical leftist Medea Benjamin, found themselves involved in an incident in which they saw the necessity of calling in the Marines for help.

It started at the usual place with the usual suspects involved. Members of Code Pink were barricading the Armed Forces recruiting center in Berkeley, California (where the city still gives them free parking and a free pass to protest uninhibited by normal legal procedures), when a man in a white volvo drove by and "spat upon Code Pink."

This is where the Marines come into play, in a first-hand, eye-witness account given by Eamon Kelly, a Marine recovering from back surgery, in an email sent to Melanie Morgan of Move America Forward:

"While we were at the protest in Berkeley from 12 to 4 PM a white volvo drove by and a man spat upon code pink. They chased him down the street and got into a verbal altercation. The police were NO WHERE in sight. That's not the best part, ready for this? Medea Benjamin yelled and I quote "Marines!" she actually yelled for our help because this man had stepped out of his car. Lol. I even asked her if she was yelling Police and she told me "I said Marines" then put her arm around my friend Allen (the Marine vet) Ironic? Ok back to the emails!! "

Speaking of e-mails, Eamon has recieved hundreds and hundreds of letters of support from Americans all across the country after he was featured in my WorldNetDaily.com a couple of weeks ago, and the blogging from so many people, including Michelle Malkin, Pat Dollard, Spree at WakeUpAmerica, EaglesUp, Gathering of Eagles, Canada Free Press and dozens more.

Interesting how when the going gets tough, even leftist extemists know who they can count on to bail them out.

More interesting are the ties and connections that surround Medea Benjamin. According to FrontPage Magazine, some of these ties may very well involve financial contributions to terrorist networks in the Middle East:

Waxman has signed a letter allowing radical leftist Medea Benjamin and a dozen of her cohorts – some of whom had lost relatives in the Iraq War – to slip the $600,000 of cash and supplies into camps housing refugees from Fallujah, with less outside scrutiny of its contents. The letter was given to Fernando Suarez del Solar, an amnestied illegal immigrant from Mexico and antiwar speaker for the leftist organization Global Exchange, who lost his son Jesus Suarez in Iraq. Fernando Suarez lives near Waxman’s congressional district. Fernando Suarez distinguished himself as an emotional antiwar protestor. His son, Jesus Suarez (a.k.a. Victor Gonzalez), reportedly died after stepping on an American cluster bomb. Jesus Suarez, who also entered this country illegally, had been offered posthumous citizenship for his service in the military, but his father turned it down. (His wife reportedly accepted the offer in order to safeguard the legal status of their child.) At his son’s funeral, Fernando recalled that Jesus had always wanted to become a Marine and be remembered as a modern day Aztec warrior. However, Fernando soon began shilling for Medea Benjamin and protesting against his son’s lifelong wish.

More troubling than the fact that Waxman’s letter probably sped those supplies through military security is the remaining question: Who was the intended recipient of this collection of left-wingers’ philanthropy?

It says a lot, in my opinion, that Benjamin called upon the Marines for help when there was no available law enforcement. It says a lot about the reputation of the Marines in regards to character, honor, and valor. What speaks volumes more, to me, is that the Marines on sight at the protest did what Marines do best and like no others; they responded to the call of duty.

I don't know if this will make any sort of impact on the Code Pink crowd that was involved in the protest. I don't know that some spark of reason may be triggered in the backs of any of their minds that will give them pause to stop for a moment and think, "These Marines are willing to put themselves in harms way for me, what am I doing?" Perhaps not, but the possibility of it exists.

As for Medea Benjamin? It takes a lot of gall, a lot of unmitigated gall, in my mind, to call upon those whom you're protesting and working against and to undermine and ask them for their help.

God Bless the Marine Corps (and yes, I'm putting aside my service branch bias as an Army veteran to say that).

An announcement that is obviously calling themselves "Funk the War:"

After many previous protests had found the 14th st recruiter “closed” at 5PM, Funk the War found them open, and the door unlocked at nearer to 6Pm and promptly exploited the situation by demonstrating to them first hand how an occupying force behaves.

After a loud commotion inside while outnumbered cops watched, recruiters finally managed to get protesters to leave-but not before literature and full-body length cardboard displays in the street window area were destroyed. In addition, hundreds more “Funk the War” stickers were plastered all over just about everything that would take them. By the time everyone was out it looked like a tornado had swept through the lobby.

One recruiter tried to grab an activist but found himself overpowered by SDS’s superior strength and numbers and had no choice but to give up!

This came on the heels of the whole group marching in K st and Connecticut Ave at the height of rush hour, closing War Profiteer’s Row to cars fro quite a while. The group closed out by going after DC GOP headquarters, but that door was locked and there were too many cops around to break it down.

Pass the word along, contact people you know who live in these areas and let's put patriotic American men and women out there in numbers to counter these people and send them home. If you live in other areas where you see this sort of thing happening, LET US KNOW and we'll make sure the word gets out.

Berkeley shows it's collective ass to Move America Forward

[Foreword: I'm not mincing words with this one, I'm not going to be polite. I'm not going to be nice. If this bothers you, don't read any further. But if you love your country, you love the men and women who stand ready to defend your rights and freedoms, if you love liberty, then read on.]

If you haven't been hiding under a rock for the past few weeks, or if you've been getting your news from somewhere other than the dinosaur media, then you're well aware of the situation going on in Berkeley, CA. We've covered it here, on this site, more than adequately.

Move America Forward has a rally scheduled for tomorrow to protest the city's treatment and stand against the United States Marine Corps. Berkeley has shown it's true color to MAF, and that color is pink. As in Code Pink, the left wing nut job organization that started all of this business in Berkeley.

Now, to be honest, Berkeley takes offense and deference at being labeled as unpatriotic, un-American, traitors, seditious, and any number of such names and labels that have been hurled at them for their anti-military stance. I don't know WHY they take such offense at being correctly labeled, but they do. If they can't handle the heat...

Move America Forward has followed all the legal processes for obtaining permission for their event in Berkeley tomorrow, and here, in an email sent to WUA by Melanie Morgan, are the conditions that the city of Berkeley has put upon MAF:

Catherine Moy, our Executive Director for Move America Forward, met with Berkeley City officials today, including representatives of the police department about our rally and protest of Berkeley's outrageous resolution condemning our Marines at the Recruiting Center as 'unwanted and uninvited intruders.'

Um, it did not go so well.

Oddly, some were outwardly HOSTILE towards our patriots.

Cat Moy suggested that the city of Berkeley just start waterboarding us right now.

The police liason was NOT amused.

Among the demands from the bureaucrats is that we provide:

-sign language intrepreters for hearing impaired (how Berzekeley.)

-porta-potties for the disabled.

-shut down our sound system at 5:00 when our rally is scheduled to begin!

-and many other ridiculous permit rules.

CodePink has preferred parking, free sound permits, and two City Council Members plotting over the weekend to deny us our right to speak at the Council meeting at 7:00 tomorrow night. Oops, did I say 7:00? Now it appears the Council is meeting secretly at 5:00 in the afternoon.

Fascism by Regulation.

It's what Berkeley does best.

May I remind our not-so-esteemed members of the Berkely City Council what our Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guardsmen do for us without thought about any political affiliation?

1. Toys for Tots program

2. Kartina and other domestic hurricane relief

3. Tsunami relief

4. Disaster relief efforts globally without restrictions as to nationality, religious affiliation, governments or political reference.

5. Drug Interdiction along the US borders

6. Safety and security of our Embassies.

I will be there, and I hope you will join me as we stand strong and proud with our military men and women, and especially the USMC.

I'm sure they WANTED to bring out the water hose and a pine plank, but that would be too much like what they have a fit about, wouldn't it?

Seems like a rather hypocritical set of demands from a city counsel trying to show it's best face to Washington in order to ease the threats of a removal of federal funding for the city. Code Pink gets pretty much free reign of the city, but MAF is supposed to have their sound systems off at the time the rally is supposed to start?

RIGHT!

What else can you expect from them when the mayor is wearing what appears to be a pink beret in support of code pink?'


What follows are target specific to the groups that will be involved in tomorrows events; a message from me, personally, to these groups and individuals. Put it in your "for what it's worth" category.

First of all to Code Pink. Congratulations. I've encountered a number of bullies in my time, but you all take the cake. You know that no man of honor who still adheres to the old codes of Chivalry (and there are those of us who are out there, a lot of them wearing uniforms) would in good conscious fight a group of women. You use sex as a weapon in your propagation of propaganda that is aimed at taking the courage and conviction of young men would might be willing to enlist in the armed forces of our nation, in this case specifically the Marine Corps, and do your dead level best to effectively neuter, no, castrate them with your sense of false honor, false virtue, and false morality. The very actions that you undertake are divisive and seditious, amoral, and would have men sit at home to do nothing, putting our nation at risk. You deserve no respect, you deserve nothing but contempt for your outrageous behaviors.

To the Mayor of Berkeley and the Berkeley City Counsel: you are guilty of willful misconduct and violations of your oaths to the Constitution of the United States, if indeed you took such oaths of office. Nonetheless, you, as a body, have promoted acts of sedition and treason during a time of war. Rightfully, you should be considered a city in rebellion against your nation, and treated thusly. I see no reason that any of you should be allowed to remain in office other than the lack of will of the American people at large to prosecute you for these acts against your nation. I personally have advocated your secession from the union, and would urge you to begin consideration of such at this time if you have not already begun to do so. Many of us would like nothing more than to see you withdrawn from our nation for making your stand; indeed it is public knowledge that you are already beginning to see the loss of revenue from businesses that will have nothing further to do with your city.

And yes, to that one former member of the Marine Corps, you are indeed, sir, an EX-Marine. The Corps has a saying, "once a Marine, always a Marine." This does not apply to you, by your own declaration you ARE an Ex-Marine. A friend of mine at work said to me once recently that there is only one ex-Marine, and that is Lee Harvey Oswald. You are in good company, sir, in taking the stance of being an ex-Marine.

Bravo, Mr. Mayor and Berkeley City Counsel. You have made your position clear. We are more than willing to accommodate you and let you go on your own.

To the citizens of Berkeley: there is no middle ground for you in this. You are either citizens of the United States of America or you are rebels. Each and every legal citizen of you has enjoyed the benefits of freedom assured you by the blood of patriots through the various and sundry engagements and wars that our armed services have participated in through the 200 plus years of our nations existence. You stand at a crossroads, and have a choice; remove from office those treasonous and seditious members of your city counsel. Make a stand, one way or the other. There are no gray areas in this one. Sitting on the sidelines will not get you recognition as a patriotic American citizen.

Choose. America is watching.

Melanie Morgan and Move America Forward: I wish that circumstances would allow this army veteran to stand with you tomorrow, but I will be with you in spirit, as will countless other veterans across our nation. We are proud of you for taking a stand for our younger brothers and sisters on active duty in the Marines, but this goes beyond just the Corps. It affects the rest of us from other branches, as well, and we realize this. There is a long standing rivalry between the services, by tradition, but it's a friendly rivalry, and if you pick a fight with one branch, you've picked a fight with all branches. I know that I speak for other veterans and current members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard when I say WHOOWAAH! Give'em HELL in Berkeley!

Finally, to my brothers and sisters in and out of uniform, those of you who have given of yourselves to ensure that we, as a people, continue on this earth. If you are in range, if there is any way you can make it to Berkeley tomorrow, GO. This should be a full frontal assault upon those who would undermine our ability to defend our nation from its enemies. You will be confronting, head on, "enemies domestic." Stand proud, stand fast, and remember the love of our nation that prompted you, as soldiers, as sailors, as Marines, to put on the uniform and offer yourself to be put in harms way that your families, your loved ones, might live free against tyranny and oppression.

To the rest of the nation, take this to heart, and hear my words well. We, the silent majority, are no longer remaining silent. Your Code Pinks, your Cindy Sheehans, your MoveOn.orgs are hereby on notice. Patriotic men and women are arising and will not let you turn our nation to socialism, to communism, unchecked. We are a nation of laws, tradition, and integrity. We will not allow you to run rough-shod over us, to dictate to us from your position as the vocal minority, to ram your anti-American rhetoric down our throats.

We will no longer let anyone make apologies for being Americans. We will accept nothing short of loyalty to our nation. This isn't a call for a fascist regime to be established, this is a call for Americans to live freely without the burden of overbearing government that panders to groups who do not have our best interests as citizens, but their own self interests as organizations and groups, to demand that the laws of our land be followed and enforced.

If not, then we need not make any pretense of continuing as a nation of laws.

Mayor,

Your actions are reprehensible and trying to claim that you meant no offense to our troops, our Marines themselves, is belied by the your actions and the wording of the resolution itself.

We have been constantly keeping updates and publishing stories on this and we will continue to do so.

Being that you have shown that you stand with the Anti-American, Military bashing Code Pink, you should step down because you are an embarrassment and continue to embarrass the whole town of Berkeley by pretending to represent them.

As long as you are their public face, the whole town will be painted with the Anti-Military brush that you represent.

Those Marines, in fact any military member, from the day they sign up are saying “I will die for you” and your pathetic response to them is to insult them, show them disrespect and join with a group that harasses them daily as you allow them to do.

You do not deserve ANY federal funding and I will continue to call my representatives and tell them to join Senator DeMint to strip you of all earmarks and federal funds.

Sir, YOU are a disgrace.

There are no words to express my outrage at this situation that you and your bully friends at Code Pink have thrust upon this nation. You and your entire city counsel are, in my mind, guilty of sedition and treason.

If you hate our nation so much, press for secession. Begin the process of removing yourselves from the Union. I know that I’ll be pushing for it to be allowed. If you don’t want to be a part of us, we certainly don’t want to stop you from not BEING a part of us. I personally am more than willing to accommodate you in any way, shape, manner, form, or fashion in which I can gladly and willingly help the people of Berkeley take their town and make it a nation in and of itself, with all that comes with it.

You disgust me to no end.

Aren't there laws against filing false alarms and lying to the police?

A good 911 system can keep track of the source of origin for incoming calls. If the call is from a cell phone, it's a simple matter of contacting the cellular provider for records. False alarms tie up emergency services personnel on bogus runs and endanger others who could and often DO need those personnel elsewhere.

I really, really hope that these false alarms and reports are looked into:

More Stories from the Code Pink Panty Raid

Okay, it wasn’t really a panty raid, but we did get the pinkos’ panties in a bunch. Besides, I like the headline. What the D.C. Chapter did do was hold a stealth freep of Code Pink at their Washington, D.C. headquarters Saturday afternoon. The part about the bogus police, fire and BOLO calls is true.

Six D.C. Chapter members, a member of Gathering of Eagles, Iraq war vet Phil Kiver and two of his friends went to the so-called Code Pink House at 712 5th St., NE (attn. Keith Olbermann, don’t get your panties in a bunch: Code Pink publishes this address all over their website) to call for their eviction over zoning violations. Specifically Code Pink is running a corporate lobbying office in a zoned residential neighborhood, operating a boarding house for transients and operating a kitchen. The house they are renting is zoned for single family dwelling. It sits right in the middle of a block of residences.

We arrived at 2 p.m. carrying copies of a zoning complaint that had been filed back in May with the D.C. government to give to the Pinkos’ neighbors. It appears the D.C. government has not taked action on the complaint.

As we were unloading our freep stuff from one of our cars up the road from the Pinkos’ office, a woman (not wearing pink, BTW) asked if we were there to protest Code Pink. When I told her, “Yes,” she immediately got on her cell phone and walked around the corner at 5th and H St. A couple minutes later she ran sprinting past me and hauled her ample behind down 5th St. to the Code Pink office where where she turned and raced up the stairs in to the front door.

About five minutes later, the first of many police officers to be called to check us out this afternoon arrived. I informed the officer, who was driving an unmarked car, that our intentions were to have a peaceful, lawful demonstration for a few hours. I explained that we were there to call attention to the neighbors of the failure of the D.C. government to act on the zoning complaint, as well as protest Code Pink in general.

The officer was satisfied that we were acting within the law and left.

The first of several neighbors came out to talk with us and shared her opposition to Code Pink roosting in her neighborhood. She said they are out in the street at all hours of the night, that they bring their buses down the street and park them, that vans with signs that say, “Our Troops Must Die” are parked on the street where her son, a three-tour Iraq vet home on emergency leave can see them.

She gladly took several copies of the zoning complaint to share with her neighbors.

The Pinko with the ample behind came back out of the Pinko office and walked back up to H St. She told us we should go to Iraq, which drew catcalls from the veterans and parent of a Marine currently in Iraq among us.

A few minutes later we received our second visit from the D.C. Police. This time it was a regular police vehicle. I spoke with this officer with the same result: we were acting within the law and he left.

A few minutes later we received our third visit. This time from a D.C. Police officer on bicycle patrol. I spoke with him as I had spoken with the previous officers.

One of the Pinkos came to the front door and asked the officer to come speak with her. She told him that she was “basically alone” in the office. We couldn’t clearly hear the rest of what she said, but it sounded like she was bothered by the presence of the protesters on the sidewalk.

While the officer was inside talking to her, several fire trucks came down 5th St. and stopped just past us. We didn’t smell any smoke (beyond the cigars and cigarettes we were smoking) and didn’t see any sign of a fire.

The police officer came back out of the Pinko office and told us that were acting within the law. When we told him this was the third time we had been checked out he told us that the police had to respond everytime a call is made, which we understood. While the officer was inside, we were joined outside by a couple more police officers on bicycle patrol. These two officers stayed watching over us until we were done after the first bicycle patrol officer departed.

The Battalion Chief for the fire department came over to talk with us about the call he was responding to. He said that they had received a call about ‘the smell of burning paper’ in the neighborhood, but there was no fire to be found. He lamented that large numbers of firemen were having to check out this bogus report.

All this happened within the first hour of us being there. In the meantime we were talking to more neighbors about Code Pink’s presence in the neighborhood. Some didn’t care, but many of them did. One even brought us bottled water to thank us for doing what we were doing. He told us how the Pinko’s improperly stored trash in their backyard was drawing rodents. Another neighbor walked up to us with a large axe in his hand and demanded to see our permit. I told him we didn’t have one. He went over carrying his axe to complain to the police about us but to no avail. We didn’t need a permit for what we were doing.

We spied one of the Pinkos up the block returning from a protest dressed in costume. When she saw us she turned around and went back up the block, presumably to use the alley entrance to the office.

The Pinkos did not want to dialogue with us today, like they usually do. Instead they hid inside their office and peeked out from behind the window blinds most of the time we were there.

We ended the freep after two hours and bid au revoir to the two bicycle patrol officers. A funny thing happened to Iraq war vet Phil Kiver, who had to leave a few minutes early, as he drove away. He had driven about fifteen blocks when he was pulled over by a marked D.C. police cruiser. The officer told him that there had been calls all afternoon that his car was being driven “erratically” all over D.C. Unknown to the officer, Phil’s car had been parked right in front of the Code Pink House for the previous two hours. I wonder who would have made calls like that to the police? Phil checked out okay and was allowed to go about his business.

I wonder what the penalties are in D.C. for making false police and fire reports? I guess I’ll have to find out.
